	We’re Inviting you to be a part of this … Economic challenges are no stranger to the National Shrine of the Little Flower. Did you know that the church was built during the Great Depression with quarters, dimes and dollars? Did you know that the modest grade school, started in rented public school, was opened just as the nation was exiting from the Depression? And did you know that the high school opened three months before the bombing of Pearl Harbor? National Shrine parishioners and others realized, however, the importance of making financial sacrifices to create the environment for quality Catholic education. In the early years, a seat collection at the Sunday Masses was instituted to support and maintain the schools. The ushers collected 10 cents from each adult at the early Masses and 25 cents for adults at the later Masses. Again, dimes and quarters helped to support the schools and pay off the debt. Today, the National Shrine parish is making needed improvements to the high school and academy campus. A new field house with a CYO-approved gymnasium, revamped performing arts center and upgrades to the science and physics labs, along with infrastructure changes to bring the building into compliance with current building codes are planned. These changes, though, cannot occur without your help and support. Tough economic times face us today, but that is a challenge, not an insurmountable obstacle. With All Our Strength: the Campaign for the National Shrine is a phased approach to improving and upgrading the church and schools. With Phase I completed, the parish now is accepting the challenge to enter into Phase II of the capital campaign. This is your invitation to participate. Together, each in our own little way, can make a difference, no matter the size of the participation. “With All Our Strength” is about the entire parish family either making a financial pledge to support Catholic education for our children, or continuing a past pledge. We ask you to read about the upgrades and improvements to the 13 Mile campus, reflect on your financial ability to contribute, pray for guidance an dmake or continue your pledge to support the National Shrine’s education mission.
