Nominations are now being accepted for the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, ‘Little Way’ award to be presented on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the St. Thérèse Feast Day event.

Two individuals will be recognized: one, a member of the Shrine Family (parishioner, alumnus, current or past parent and/or benefactor) and a second, outside of the Shrine community an individual who exemplifies the specified criteria. The worthy candidate deserving this recognition will be someone who has made a significant contribution to the Catholic Church and to their community.

Nominees exemplify in a ’big way’ the charism of St. Thérèse.

The phrase “the little way” of St. Thérèse captures an image of her understanding about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, one who seeks a holiness of life in the ordinary and the everyday. St. Thérèse translated “the little way” in terms of commitment to simple everyday tasks and the people she encountered each day. Therese’s spirituality is of doing the ordinary, with extraordinary love, living each day with an unshakable confidence in God’s love. “What matters in life,” she wrote, “is not great deeds, but great love.”

Please print or type all information and then attach supporting documentation as detailed below: Please consider the following characteristics for your candidate recommendation.

  • Faith-filled, modeling the characteristics of St. Thérèse as listed above.

  • Individuals who nurture the Catholic community through service, stewardship, and involvement that mirrors the spirit of St. Thérèse.
