Última Rhéma- is a music ministry that began in 2016 as Nueva Alianza (New Alliance) but changed their name in 2022. Its mission is to accompany, in the form of intercession, those in the congregation to receive God’s love as they attend any service in which the ministry is involved.
Última Rhéma alternates Masses for the 3:30pm, Spanish Mass on Sundays. The music ministry plays throughout the year and participates in different parish events, archdiocese events and regions within Detroit. They also collaborate with the Music Ministry’s Director at Shrine for special occasions for bilingual liturgies.
Song genre varies from contemporary to traditional music for the liturgy. Its resources are song choices from countries such as Mexico, El Salvador and OCP’s “Flor y Canto” version #3.
• Instruments used for Mass purposes: acoustic guitar, piano, Cuban box, Latin percussion, and voices.
• Instruments used for Mass purposes: acoustic and electric guitar, piano, drums, bass guitar, Latin percussion, and voices.
Última Rhéma is a Catholic music missionary ministry that travels throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit for the evangelical mission within the Hispanic Community. While still participating at their home parish at Shrine for the Sunday liturgy Masses, they also participate in different events through the Hispanic community all over the regions of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Rehearsals are on Mondays from 6:30pm-9pm in the Youth Room of the Basilica.
Requirements needed:
• Be open to learn the Catholic church’s teachings.
• Be open to formation: spiritual, basic theology, church’s history both in music and the church’s tradition.
• Be open to travel around the region within and outside of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
• Spanish is the main language used within the music ministry.
Must know:
• No instrumental or singing ability needed, we’ll work with anyone who wishes to be a part of the mission but hasn’t had the opportunity to flourish in their gifts and talents.
• If only interested in being involved for Sunday liturgy Mass, please know it is an option.

Coro Emmanuel- is a choir that began in 2021. Coro Emmanuel focuses on sharing God’s love through music. Its mission is to accompany the congregation in a prayer form within the Mass. The style of music varies from contemporary to praise & worship music for the liturgy. Its main resources are song choices from Mexico. Instruments used within the Mass: guitar, piano and voices.
Coro Emmanuel plays every other Sunday for the 3:30pm Spanish Mass. The choir plays throughout the year and is more than happy to welcome anyone who is wanting to join.
Some collaborations may be done for special occasions for the Hispanic Ministry.
Main language is Spanish. Rehearsals are on Sundays at 2:00pm every other Sunday, before the Spanish Mass.
