Serving with the ministry of Hospitality at Shrine Parish is a beautiful way to make parishioners and visitors feel welcomed and included.
Volunteers greet visitors and serve coffee and donuts after certain weekend Masses throughout the year. We also serve other social receptions when called upon.
All are welcome to join.

The Parish Nurse Ministry is a small group of RN’s who make themselves available to educate, assess, and support the health needs of the parish. They also conduct monthly blood pressure screening, nutrition counsel, and help with various other programs from medical facilities.

Our primary focus is to help veterans in Shrine Parish as well as the local community. We also support the mission of the John Dingell, Detroit V.A. Hospital.
Veterans Ministry meets on the third Wednesday of the month in Heritage Hall at 6:30 pm. We then carpool to the Detroit V.A. Hospital to socialize with veterans who are permanent residents, many of whom have no family or few visitors, and we are their family for the night.
We also offer various other activities for veterans, including picnics and outings for those who are disabled, as well as hosting luncheons for mentally challenged or homeless veterans. Veterans Ministry also adopts families for Christmas, helps with Sunday Mass at the hospital chapel, visits homebound veterans, and most recently, sent 150 box lunches to the doctors and nurses working during the pandemic.
New volunteers are always welcome! For more information, please contact Frank Roche at 248-435-4717 or [email protected].
Pray for Vocations 31 Club: Simply pick a day of the month to pray, and sign up at the church entrance. No dues. No meetings. Just prayers.
Welcoming is not a one-time action; it permeates every encounter we have with a guest, fellow parishioner, friend or stranger. If you are gifted with a compassionate heart and welcoming spirit, join us (no commitment necessary; big or small roles for all). Or if you see where our welcome could be warmer, please let us know.
