The phrase “the little way” of St. Thérèse captures an image of her understanding about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, one who seeks a holiness of life in the ordinary and the everyday. St. Thérèse translated “the little way” in terms of commitment to simple everyday tasks and the people she encountered each day. Therese’s spirituality is of doing the ordinary, with extraordinary love, living each day with an unshakable confidence in God’s love. “What matters in life,” she wrote, “is not great deeds, but great love.”

Nominees exemplify in a ’big way’ the charism of St. Thérèse.

  • Faith-filled, modeling the characteristics of St. Thérèse as listed above.
  • Individuals who nurture the Catholic community through service, stewardship, and involvement that mirrors the spirit of St. Thérèse.

Nominations and induction may be posthumously awarded.
